Guruji - songs, movie timings, services - all in one

Guruji, a pioneer among Indian search technologies, has launched a new site where one can look for songs across the gamut of Indian recorded music, covering almost all languages and dating from 1923 to the present.

Harnessing the same web crawler technologies, which made their flagship search so popular, the makers have created a starkly simple portal which allows one to enter a search term: the name of the song or the singer, the film, even the actor or actress. Guruji looks for the songs you search from various websites and presents to you a list of the songs that matched your criteria. The songs can be filtered by year, language, movie, singers etc.

The results include different versions of the song from the original (often unobtainable on CDs or DVDs today) to recent remixes or instrumental versions.

Guruji also features a full-fledged web search. The City section helps you find services in your own city. Just enter WHAT you want and WHERE. You can select your City or enter the City in the WHERE box and search. For some cities, the localities are also shown. Just type a the first few characters of your locality and the various matching options are shown.

Another wonderfully useful section is the 'Movie Timings' section. Just like the City section, you can search for Movies and the show timings for a movie in your city. Select your City and type the Movie name you are looking for. The search comes up with the cinema houses where the movie is currently showing along with the show timings and the contact number of the cinema house.

One hint: most sites come with their own music players; but some require the latest versions of RealPlayer or Windows Media Player. It is worth while to download and keep both of them on your desktop to save time.
